A Jewel of Grace

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and not of yourselves; it is a gift of God. Ephesians 2:8

Rest in His grace. He isn’t finished molding you.

As a young woman in Christ, I used to put myself under the pressure of being a perfect jewel. Or some of us abuse the grace we’ve been given, thinking we have time to get it right. But really, we are just hindering ourselves from becoming all that God has purposed us to be. To find a jewel, you must dig for it. And after you recognize you’ve found the jewel, the jewel goes through a process.

A gem after being found is cleansed and

made whole, with some cutting and shaping. It’s

almost like God does the same with us.

I believe our mistake is often the lack of grace we show ourselves and the force we put into this process. The Holy Bible gives us all the wisdom, inspiration, and truth needed to understand this process, bringing us back to the feet of Jesus Christ. First, He tells us that we are born in sin. We as humans are born into a sinful nature, whether it be a heart posture issue or a mental issue. We fight this flesh every day.

Like Paul, I like to think of it as a thorn keeping us closer to God, keeping us humble in knowing how much we need Him. This is not to say you will have these same issues forever, because you won’t. This says you are not alone, and God loves you no matter what condition you are in or what you have faced.
